Read on to learn more about Sam Huat:

What has changed or improved since you started working with the company?

When I first started, the Televac® portion of the company was in a separate building across the street. As the overall company expanded and the main building was renovated, we were able to move all departments into one building, making it easier for us to communicate with one another.

This was at a time when almost all documentation was paper and vacuum systems were controlled manually, so everything was much more time-consuming. Early on, Fredericks made significant investments in technology and automated systems, so that now everything is much more streamlined.

What has been your most memorable moment here at The Fredericks Company?

I remember when Mr. Walter Reimann became the President of the company. Mr. Reimann had such dedication to all of us, he really cared about all of his employees and made sure that the company grew year after year.

Mr. Reimann’s daughter, Mrs. Heidi McKenna, has since become the President. Like her father, she has the same passion for her employees and the company.

What do you enjoy most about your position?

Being able to come in every day and apply my knowledge on the job, especially in electronics with troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating all of our vacuum measurement equipment.

What do you find more challenging about your role?

Every day at work can present a new challenge. I always do my best to keep up good workmanship and stay on schedule to maintain on-time delivery. I also think it’s important to communicate with everyone to solve work-related problems.

Before working at The Fredericks Company, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?

Right after school (in France), I worked for an electronics company (GIGA Instruments and GIGA Modules) which specialized in high and ultra-high frequency instrumentation and modules on the outskirts of Paris for two years. I was a technician doing calibration and I liked the job very much since it was my first real job after school. While working there, I met my now wife in Paris on her vacation from the USA and decided to come to live with her a couple of years later in 1989.

My first job in the USA was in a small electronic component shop located in the industrial area by I-95 in Bensalem, PA. The business was not great and every week as soon we received our paycheck, we had to quickly run to the bank to cash it, otherwise, the check bounced. Sometimes the check bounced and I had to wait another week to be paid. That was something.
