This application note explains how to configure the IP address of a Televac® MX200 EthernetIP interface using the HMS IPConfig Utility. It also provides troubleshooting steps for locating the MX200 on the network and instructions for verifying EthernetIP network connectivity.
Netzwerk-Konfiguration
To communicate with a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC), the MX200 EthernetIP interface must be configured with an IP address and subnet mask appropriate for the network.
The IP address assigned to the MX200 must not conflict with another device on the network.
Alternate Configuration Method
The procedure in this application note uses the HMS IPConfig Utility.

IMPORTANT
The IP address assigned to the MX200 must be compatible with the network and must not already be in use by another device. Contact your network administrator or IT department if you are unsure which IP address should be assigned.
3 Installing the HMS IPConfig Utility
The HMS IPConfig Utility is used to locate the MX200 EthernetIP interface on the network and configure its IP address and other network settings.
Download the IPConfig Utility from the HMS/Anybus website:

Save the installation file on your computer.
Open the downloaded installation package and run: IPConfig Setup.exe
Follow the installation prompts to install the IPConfig Utility.
Once installation is complete, the utility is ready to use for configuring the MX200 EthernetIP interface.
4 Configuring the MX200 EthernetIP Address
Connect the MX200 EthernetIP port on the back of the unit directly to the Windows computer using an Ethernet cable.
The IPv4 Address and Subnet Mask for the network must be known before configuring the MX200. If the network information is already available, proceed to Section 4.3.
If the network information is not known, open Command Prompt and enter: ipconfig
Locate the active Ethernet adapter and record the following:
- IPv4 Address
- Subnet Mask
These values identify the network on which the MX200 must be configured.
IMPORTANT
The MX200 must be assigned a different IP address on the same network.
The selected IP address must not already be in use by another device. Contact your network administrator or IT department if you are unsure which address is available.
Open the HMS IPConfig Utility.
Click Scan to search for the MX200 EthernetIP interface.
If the MX200 does not appear in the IPConfig Utility:
- Verify that the computer has an active Ethernet connection.
- Check the Ethernet cable and reconnect it if necessary.
- In IPConfig, open Settings.
- Enable Broadcast from a Specific Network Interface Controller.
- Select the Ethernet network adapter connected to the MX200.
- Scan for the device again.
After the correct Ethernet interface is selected, the MX200 should appear in the IPConfig Utility.
Select the MX200 in the IPConfig Utility to open its network settings.
Enter an IP address and subnet mask appropriate for the network.
Click Set to apply the new settings.
Then click Scan to refresh the device list.
If DHCP is enabled, the MX200 IP address is assigned automatically by the DHCP server.
Because the assigned IP address may change, verify the current address before establishing a connection from a PLC that is configured to communicate with a specific static IP address.
5 Verify Network Connectivity
After the MX200 IP address and subnet mask have been configured, open a web browser.
Enter the IP address assigned to the MX200 EthernetIP interface into the browser address bar.
When prompted, enter the interface username and password:
Username: Admin
Password: admin
If the MX200 is connected to the network correctly, the EthernetIP web interface should be displayed.
From the web interface, you can view:
- Current EthernetIP network settings
- Available data parameters
- Configurable data parameters
Once the EthernetIP connection has been verified, the MX200 is ready to be configured for communication with the PLC.
